We’re celebrating 60 years of DFFB.
Marking the occasion, the academy is moving into a new campus in Berlin-Moabit – and opening its doors with a wide-ranging programme for both the film community and the public.
-
Open House
On 18 September, DFFB invites the public to an Open House.
Visitors can explore the new spaces in Berlin-Moabit, discover current student work, and meet people from the academy. -
Conference
Film as a Bridge in a Fragmented Society
The international conference “Reaching Outside the Bubble: Engaging Others Through Film” (14–16 October 2026) looks at how film can connect people across social divides and offer new perspectives.
Topics include visibility, new ways of reaching audiences, and the balance between artistic ambition and public impact.
The conference is supported by the Stiftung Kulturwerk of VG Bild-Kunst. Admission is free. Registration details will be available from mid-August. -
Film Series
feminist migrant queer | legacies presents futures
From late October to late November, Sinema Transtopia, Deutsche Kinemathek and Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art will present nine programmes featuring films from DFFB’s past and present.
The series explores questions of visibility, diversity and social participation in dialogue with the academy’s history. It highlights feminist perspectives, migrant and international biographies, and queer cinema.
Curated by Toby Ashraf, Karina Griffith, Tobias Hering, Sophie Holzberger, and the collective feminist elsewheres.
